Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Synap platform — including getsynap.app and the Synap mobile applications (collectively, the "Service") — operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] ("Synap", "we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Acceptance

2. Description of the Service

Synap is a modular micro-learning platform that delivers short AI-evaluated lessons across professional skill tracks. The Service includes a web interface at getsynap.app and companion mobile applications. Features include daily lessons, streak tracking, free-response AI evaluation, and purchasable content packs.

The Service is currently available to users in the United States only. We reserve the right to change the scope of availability at any time.

3. Accounts and magic-link authentication

You sign in to Synap with a one-time magic link sent to the email address you provide — no password is ever created. You are responsible for keeping your email account secure, since access to your email grants access to your Synap account.

You agree to provide a valid email address and to keep it current. Accounts are personal and non-transferable. You must not share access with others or create accounts on behalf of others without their explicit permission.

4. Payment, subscriptions, and refunds

Payments are processed by Stripe. By completing a purchase you also agree to Stripe's consumer terms. Synap never sees or stores your card number; Stripe handles all payment credentials.

Subscriptions

Monthly subscriptions renew automatically on the same day each month until cancelled. You can cancel at any time through the Stripe Customer Portal (accessible from your account settings). Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain access until then.

One-time content packs

Content packs are purchased once and do not expire for as long as the Service operates and the relevant content is available.

Refunds

Monthly subscriptions are billed via Stripe. If you delete your Synap account, your subscription is cancelled immediately and a prorated refund for the unused portion of the current billing period is issued to the original payment method. Refunds are calculated as: (days remaining in the current period ÷ total days in the period) × amount charged for that period, rounded to the nearest cent. The refund is processed automatically at account deletion and typically appears on your statement within 5–10 business days, depending on your card issuer.

One-time content pack purchases are non-refundable. Subscription refunds outside of the prorated account-deletion flow are handled on a case-by-case basis; contact us at [CONTACT EMAIL] within 14 days of the charge.

Price changes

We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days' notice to your registered email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new price.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its backend infrastructure.
Reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise extract content from the Service in bulk without our written permission.
Submit harmful, abusive, defamatory, or illegal content in free-response answers or any other user input.
Impersonate another person or entity.
Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to interact with the Service without our prior written consent.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, at our sole discretion and without prior notice when warranted.

6. Intellectual property

Our content

All lesson content, software, design, trademarks, and other materials on or in the Service are owned by or licensed to [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of our IP to you. Your subscription or pack purchase grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the content solely for your own learning purposes.

Your content

You retain ownership of the free-response answers you write. By submitting them you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display them back to you via the Service, and to use them in aggregate, anonymised form to improve AI evaluation quality. We do not sell your responses to third parties.

7. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT AI EVALUATIONS ARE PERFECT OR FREE FROM BIAS.

8. Limitation of liability

9. Termination

By you

By us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Where feasible we will give advance notice.

10. Governing law and disputes
